the founders
Simone lends her minimalist but sensitive aesthetic, drawing on 14 years of fashion design on show collections for Vivienne Westwood, CoSTUME NATIONAL, LOEWE, and Narciso Rodriguez. Heike infuses kindred with its earth-friendly mission of repurposing garments, inspired by her work on a number of environmental protection projects in Freiburg, Germany. Simone and Heike met serendipitously in New York City—both were new mothers who grew up in villages of South Germany. The concept for kindred was sparked while reminiscing about the simple beauty and lasting quality of what they wore as children, and as a response to today’s “throw-away” culture.
